Love of Magic

Updated: Feb 11

Love of Magic (LoM) is a visual novel NSFW game with RPG’s elements that tells the story of a college student that gets involved in a literally magical adventure full mythical creatures, witches and lots of sexual encounters, with big breasted females. Be aware that the target audience for this game is straight males.

Questions you might have if you're interested in playing it:

  • What is it exactly that you do in the game?

At its core LoM is a game where you click on stuff, read dialogue, watch NSFW scenes and fight enemies in order to progress the story. It has some elements of a managing game where you have to work for money in order to survive, but nothing too big or annoying

  • Will it make my eyes bleed?

It mostly looks great. The models are detailed and high res, the environments are not too detailed but overall okay. The animations for the sex scenes are by far the best part of the game. I can appreciate how much care the devs invested on the sex animations. NSFW games with good jiggle physics are always a plus in my book.

  • Does it have a good story?

For NSFW visual novel standards. It’s fine, nothing great. It mostly sets up scenarios for the sex scenes and a little more. I enjoyed some of the characters and I have to admit that the “magical” part of the story is dumb but enjoyable.

  • Does it have a good soundtrack?

It's fine. The best thing that I can say about it is that it didn’t annoy me but I don’t like it.

  • Does it have replay value?

Like most visual novels with RPG elements. The game offers you multiple paths to complete the game. I’m not sure if the game has multiple endings as well but it feels like it has the potential for it. I spent around 10 hours rushing through the story and writing the review. I can tell you that LoM is by far the longest NSFW visual novel that I have ever played.

  • Does it run well?

It runs flawlessly. There is not much else to say. It’s a game that is not very demanding and I didn’t have any problems with it.

  • Is it fun?

As someone that doesn’t really like the visual novel genre, I enjoyed this game. It’s engaging and the NSFW bits are great but scarce.

So what is Love of Magic?

It’s one of those weird NSFW games that is better than it has any right to be. Sure the sex scenes are few and separated by a lot of text and exploration, but the combat system was the thing that made power through it. It’s a mix between turn-based combat and poker… I know it sounds weird but hear me out. You and your opponent are dealt a hand of 5 cards and in front of you there is a table with 9 cards arranged in a 3x3 square. The objective like poker is to place 2 cards from your hand on the corners of the square. After this it’s basically poker, the better the hand that you manage to create, the more damage that you deal to your enemy’s health bar. This is the reason why you should consider buying this game over all the other NSFW visual novels on steam, it’s an amazing mechanic and I love it.

Is this game worth my hard earned money?

If you are interested on this game only for the sex scenes you will be disappointed, not because the animations are bad, simply because the focus of this game is mostly on setting up the world and the characters. I love the combat system and I think that it is the reason why you should consider buying this game, but like most visual novels, it all depends on what you expect of them.

Rating: 7/10

Interesting game with a really cool combat system, but it’s flawed.
