Surviving the Apocalypse Is More Fun When There’s Sex

Gotta love the straight-forward name

Surviving the Apocalypse Is More Fun When There’s Sex is a cheeky adult visual novel that dares to blend post-apocalyptic grit with steamy romance. Picture yourself navigating a desolate landscape, dodging raiders, mutants, and ethical quandaries, all while forging passionate connections that might just be the key to keeping your humanity intact.

Note

We only got the Demo version sent to us, if they send the full version we will recheck the game and add more to the review.

About This Game

Storyline

Since this is a Demo, I didn't get to experience the whole story. The narrative kicks off with you playing as a grizzled survivor in a world that’s seen better days. Chaos reigns supreme, and every corner of the wasteland is crawling with danger. The plot thickens when you rescue a mysterious woman from some nasty raiders, setting off a chain of events that will test your morals and your heart. The story promises plenty of twists and moral dilemmas, but let's be honest—the pace could use a bit of a kick in the pants. At times, it drags like a zombie with one leg, making you wish for a fast-forward button.

Gameplay Mechanics

Here’s where things get interesting—or not, depending on how you look at it. The game boasts choices that are supposed to shape your journey, but some of these choices feel like they’re just for show. Imagine choosing between two paths, only to find they lead to the same dead end. It’s like ordering off a menu only to be served the same dish no matter what you pick. That said, when your choices do matter, they can lead to some pretty intriguing branches and different endings.

Visuals & Audio

Visually, the game is a mixed bag. On one hand, the character renders are decent, but some scenes suffer from noise and grainy effects which are a turn off. The background art has its quirks too—particularly those broken windows that look oddly uniform, as if a designer hit copy-paste on the destruction. Hopefully, these will get tidied up before the full release.

Sound-wise, it’s clear the team had a tight budget. Gunshots, stabs, and punches all use the same effects repeatedly, which gets old fast. A little variety here would go a long way in making the world feel more alive (or dead, in this case ;P).

Pros

  • When it’s not dragging its feet, the story is compelling with plenty of twists.

  • A diverse cast keeps interactions fresh and engaging.

  • Some decisions do lead to different outcomes and endings.

  • The sex scenes are well-crafted and add a tantalising layer to the gameplay. They even let you re-play each scene if you want without having to visit the gallery

Cons

  • The story can feel slow at times, needing a more dynamic flow.

  • Some choices don’t impact the story, which can be frustrating.

  • Noise & grain in some renders and cookie-cutter broken windows on the background buildings detract from immersion.

  • The same sound effects over and over again can get annoying.

Conclusion

In its demo form, Surviving the Apocalypse Is More Fun When There’s Sex shows potential, but it’s clear there’s still work to be done. The mix of survival drama and sexual encounters is intriguing, and the characters are worth getting to know. With some polish—better pacing, meaningful choices, improved visuals, and more varied sound effects—this game could be a hit. I’m looking forward to seeing the full release and hoping it lives up to the promise of its tantalising title.
