University Life Is Crazy
University Days Season 2 throws you right back into uni life. This semester feels wayyyy messier than the previous one. There’s drama literally everywhere, loads of secrets and rumors, teachers acting sus, classmates doing questionable things, and somehow your character is stuck in the middle of all of it. The game’s still in early access, so it’s not exactly finished yet, but even in its current state, there’s a lot going on.
What I immediately liked is that the game doesn’t try to pretend college life is normal. Here it is chaos, flirting, power games, weird assignments, late-night messages, and people having a lot of secrets. It feels like the kind of campus where something strange is always about to happen, and that makes it fun to keep playing just to see what would get fucked up next.
About This Game
Storyline
This time, the story focuses on a brand new semester, but it isn’t a fresh start in any sense. If anything, it feels like the problems from last semester followed you and brought newer problems with them. There’s this whole mystery with someone called X, and it keeps getting more serious as the episodes continue. You start realizing that you’re being watched, and sometimes it feels like every decision you make could come back to bite your ass.
At the same time, the mystery is not the only thing going on in the game. You are also dealing with relationships, rumors, weird situations with teachers, and all kinds of drama between your fellow students. Some moments feel serious, some feel funny, and some feel really ridiculous in a positive way. It has that soap opera energy where you know things are over the top, but that’s what makes it amazing.
One thing I noticed is that the pacing can feel a bit too slow sometimes. The mystery moves forward, but not at a fast pace, and there are parts where it feels like you are just going through pointless/filler conversations without much happening. Still, when the story actually hits a critical moment, it makes you curious enough to keep going.
The game also gives you a shit ton of choices, and even if not every choice changes the story drastically, you still get the feeling that your decisions matter. Different scenes, different interactions, different reactions from characters. It makes replaying more interesting because you want to see what happens if you act differently.
Gameplay Mechanics
Gameplay is pretty much what you expect from this kind of VN, but with a few extra things that make it feel a tiny bit more interactive. You spend most of the time clicking through dialogue, making choices, and watching scenes, but the game adds some small features that make it less boring.
The biggest one is the phone system. Instead of just being a menu, the phone feels like part of the story. You get messages, pictures, social media posts, and sometimes whole conversations happen there instead of face-to-face. It actually makes the world feel way more alive, like the characters exist even when you are not in the same room as them.
Sometimes the phone notifications can get annoying, though. There are moments when you are in the middle of a conversation and your phone randomly starts making noise again and again. After a while it feels less immersive and more like spam.
There are also some sandbox parts where you can move around and choose where to go. These parts are not super complicated, but they are a nice change from just clicking through dialogue. It makes the game feel less linear and more like you’re actually moving through the story.
The gallery, achievements, and bonus scenes are also there, which is always nice if you like unlocking everything. It gives you a reason to replay and try different choices instead of finishing once and forgetting about it.
Visuals & Audio
This is probably one of the strongest parts of the game. The character models look really good, and you can tell the developer spent time improving them compared to before. The main characters especially stand out, and every new character feels different enough that you sorta remember them.
The animations are decent too. Not the most advanced you will ever see, but smooth enough that they do not feel stiff or boring. Some scenes repeat poses a bit too much, which can make certain moments feel similar, but overall the quality is still good.
The phone images and moving pictures are actually one of my favorite details. Getting messages with pictures or short animations makes the game feel more modern, and it fits the college setting really well. It is a small thing, but it adds a lot to the atmosphere.
Music and sound effects are fine. Nothing amazing, but they do their job. Background music fits the scenes, and the ambient sounds help the world feel less empty. I did notice that some scenes feel a little quiet, and a bit more voice or sound variety would make them better.
Overall, visually the game looks polished, especially for early access. You can tell it still needs some work, but the direction is good.
Pros-
Very good character models and clean renders
Interesting mystery with X that keeps you curious
Phone system makes the game feel more alive
Lots of choices and different scenes to unlock
Bonus gallery, achievements, and extra content
Good mix of drama, humor, and crazy situations
Feels more polished than the first season
Cons-
Story pacing can feel slow at times
Some scenes feel repetitive after a while
Phone notifications can get annoying
Not all choices feel as important as they should
Still early access, so content is limited for now
Conclusion
This sequel feels like one of those games that knows exactly what it wants to be. It’s dramatic, a lil bit ridiculous, sometimes messy, but always entertaining. Even with only a few episodes available, there’s already enough content to keep you busy for a few hours, and the branching choices make it worth replaying if you want to see different outcomes.
The biggest strength for me is the atmosphere. The game really sells that chaotic college life where everyone has secrets, everyone wants something, and you never know when things will go wrong. Add the mystery on top of that, and it becomes hard to stop playing because you want to know what happens next.
It is not perfect, especially right now in early access. Some parts need polishing, some scenes repeat too much, and the story could move faster. But the foundation is strong, and if the updates keep coming the way they promise, this could easily turn into a really solid visual novel by the time all episodes are out.
Right now, I would say it is a fun experience with a lot of potential. Not flawless, not finished, but definitely interesting enough to keep going to the next episode just to see what kind of trouble the next semester brings.
Rating: 9/10
