Void's Calling Episode 1

Updated: Feb 15

is review was made based on my experience playing on a Ryzen 5 3600, 16GBs of ram and a GTX 1650, be mindful that my experience can differ from yours depending on the hardware.

Void's Calling ep.1 (VC) is a NSFW RPG that uses the visual novel genre’s structure to tell a story about a man that has all kinds of sexy adventures in a fantasy world with magic and vampires. Be aware that the target audience for this game is straight males.

Questions you might have if you're interested in playing it

  • What is it exactly that you do in the game?

It’s similar to the old 90’s text based adventure games where you pick actions and you get feedback. You have a set amount of actions that you can do per day before you go to sleep. From what I have seen, you can play this game almost indefinitely as long as you can generate enough in-game money. Similar to old school JRPGs, the battles are turn-based and the actions that your character can do are limited by your stats and your morality alignment.

  • Will it make my eyes bleed?

For NSFW games on steam standards it looks fine. The models look generic and sometimes the textures look weird but overall I don't have any major complaints. I like that the NSFW scenes are well animated, lengthy and run at a smooth frame rate.

  • Does it have a good story?

It’s kind of interesting, but the dialogue most of the time is way too elaborated and hard to follow. I can say for sure that it’s better than the average NSFW game on steam.

  • Does it have a good soundtrack?

It's generic. I can’t remember a single track of the game, but on the good side not a single track of the game made me want to mute the game.

  • Does it have replay value?

VC offers you multiple paths to solve some quests and it offers several endings. I spent around 10 hours playing this game and I don’t want to replay it again. But it’s nice that I have the option to do it and experience new stuff.

  • Does it run well?

I had not experienced a single technical issue. Runs flawlessly.

  • Is it fun?

It’s a bit cumbersome. In the early game, most of the quest feel like a chore, but near end game it gets better, not good, just better.

So what is Void's Calling ep.1?

It’s a weird game. I like how complex, but fairly boring, of an RPG it is and the NSFW bits are great and truly worth the asking price. There is too much filler between the lewd bits for my liking. The NPCs are fairly uninteresting. The turn-based battles are nothing new, but I have to admit that I like that you can auto-resolve all of them. The visual novel template is what limits the game's true potential. I think this would be a better game if it was made on RPG maker.

Is this game worth my hard earned money?

I feel like it depends on what you expect of this game. If you are fine with a surprisingly complex NSFW RPG game with lots of boring quest and a lot of down time in between the sex scenes, this is an easy buy. If you are like me and prefer simple games with lots of lewd content, pass.

Rating: 6/10

Decent game but a bit rough.
