Sound Is Indeed Colourful
Color of My Sound is a visual novel that throws you straight into a galaxy of espionage, intrigue, and, of course, ridiculously attractive characters. It’s a game that blends deep storytelling with meaningful romance, offering a mix of science fiction, drama, and adult themes—all wrapped up in some seriously stunning visuals. But don’t expect a mindless NSFW fest; this game is all about the long game, balancing substance with spice.
About This Game
Storyline
The premise is gripping right from the start. You play as a highly decorated officer, transferred under mysterious circumstances to a Special Operations Squad tasked with dismantling a Rebel espionage ring. The Empire has just survived a catastrophic terrorist attack, tensions are high, and trust is in short supply. Every member of your squad has their own motives, secrets, and personal baggage, and it’s up to you to navigate this web of lies, betrayal, and political chaos—while also trying to, you know, not die.
What I love here is the way the story keeps you on your toes. It’s not just about making choices; it’s about figuring out who’s on your side and who’s playing you like a damn fiddle. The pacing is excellent, with a gradual buildup of tension that makes every interaction feel important. There’s also a solid mix of world-building and character-driven drama, making it feel like a true sci-fi thriller rather than just another AVN with a futuristic skin.
Gameplay Mechanics
As a visual novel, Color of My Sound is primarily about choices, and the game does a great job of making them meaningful. Instead of bombarding you with random options that lead to arbitrary consequences, choices evolve naturally—starting as small variations before branching into significant story shifts. It gives a real sense of control without feeling overwhelming.
The Codex system is another highlight. It expands as you progress, keeping track of lore entries and character dossiers so you’re never lost in the details. If you step away for a bit, you can always refresh your memory instead of scrambling to remember who betrayed whom. It’s a small but thoughtful addition that really enhances the experience.
I initially thought there was no fast-forward feature, but luckily, it does exist! If you’re like me and enjoy experimenting with different choices, this is a lifesaver. Without it, replaying everything from scratch would be a drag. It’s great to have a way to skip through familiar dialogue and get straight to the decisions that matter.
Visuals & Audio
Let’s just get this out of the way—the game is stunning. The character designs are top-tier, each one oozing personality and intrigue. The environments are rich and atmospheric, making every scene feel alive. The attention to detail in expressions, lighting, and backgrounds really elevates the experience beyond the standard AVN fare.
The audio is also solid. While there’s no voice acting (which, honestly, I’d love to see in future volumes), the soundtrack does a fantastic job of setting the mood. Whether it’s a tense political standoff or a more intimate moment, the music always complements the scene perfectly.
Pros
Deep, well-crafted story with real stakes.
Complex, multi-layered characters that go beyond simple romance options.
Gorgeous visuals and immersive world-building.
Thoughtful choice system that evolves as the game progresses.
Codex system helps keep track of lore and characters.
Cons
NSFW content is secondary to the story, which might disappoint some players.
Volume 2 & 3 aren’t out yet, and I need answers!
Conclusion
Color of My Sound is easily one of the most unique AVNs I’ve played. It delivers a compelling mix of mystery, sci-fi, and character-driven drama, all wrapped in a visually stunning package. It’s not just about romance—it’s about navigating a world of secrets, espionage, and personal struggles, with every choice feeling like it actually matters.
If you’re here for a deep, engaging story with a side of well-earned romance, this is a must-play. But if you’re looking for something purely adult-focused, you might find the pacing a bit slow. That said, the build-up is absolutely worth it. Now, the real question is—where the hell are Volumes 2 & 3? Because I need them yesterday.
