🎮 Gameplay Mechanics:

🔶 The game's store page doesn’t lie when it calls itself an "unusual gaming experience." It’s a top-down shooter, but in a way that feels almost confusing at times. Throughout my entire playthrough, I wasn’t quite sure what was going on, other than needing to shoot green and red enemies. More often than not, I ended up being the one getting killed. The premise is simple- you just need to find and enter the portal somewhere on the map to advance. However, the enemies won’t hesitate for a second to take you down. Fast reflexes are essential because one hit from an enemy means you’ll have to replay the level, making it extremely punishing. There are four weapons available, but the first two are what you'll primarily rely on. And trust me, missing even a single shot will cost you your life in this game.

🔷 But hey, who doesn’t enjoy a challenge, right? Normally, replaying the same level over and over would eventually lead to success- but that wasn’t quite the case here. The game constantly shuffled the levels around after each death, repeatedly sending me back to an area where I had to pick up and reload weapons, almost like I was stuck in an endless tutorial. It became frustrating fast, especially since I had no clue what was happening. On top of that, some levels are completely dark, making survival nearly impossible unless you’ve already done multiple walkthroughs. As you progress further, the difficulty increases significantly, making it even harder to keep up.

🔶 Aside from that, there are a few confusing cut-scenes that I couldn’t make sense of. The store page mentions that the story revolves around finding a missing person, but during my playthrough, I struggled to connect the dots.

📷 Visuals and Audio:

🔷 The game looks just good enough for it to not impact gameplay. Would it be good if I could differentiate between what is a structure and what is a floor? Surely. But as of now, walking and checking for yourself works. There’s nothing too special about the visuals.

🔶 On a brighter note, the game allows you to create a playlist from the various soundtracks available, which is a pleasant surprise. Finally, a developer who recognizes that a single soundtrack isn’t enough for most games! In terms of audio, I’d rate it a solid 10/10.

📝Main Pros and Cons:

Pros-

  • Numerous soundtracks.

  • Very challenging.

  • Easy to understand mechanics.

  • Storyline and cut-scenes.

Cons-

  • Gets very frustrating at times.

  • Levels change again and again and it makes the gameplay quite confusing.

  • There is no explanation about anything happening in the game.

😇 Honest Rating:

🔷 Overall, Formilion offers a confusing, strange, and challenging experience. If you're a fan of tough gameplay, it's definitely worth picking up. However, for casual gamers, it might be best to skip this one.
