Wet Dreams Are Better
I recently got the opportunity to play the unreleased version of The Grey Dream, which is basically an adult Visual Novel. It's about a young man who gets a job offer right after finishing his studies. But when he takes the job, old memories and problems from his past show up.
Note that this review was made before the game was even released. I was lucky enough to get a pre-release copy of the game. Keep in mind that the game might be incomplete when I played it and they might fix/add a lot of things before releasing!
About This Game
Storyline
So, here's what the game is about in a spoiler-free short summary:
After school, the protagonist got a job at a big trading company. He was extremely excited. But soon, he found out that things from his past were catching up with him. It was shocking and sometimes hard to handle. On top of this, he met some really beautiful women along the way. The story then takes an erotic yet emotionally challenging path.
The game kept me guessing: Can I make him face and fix his past? Or should I use it to make his future more interesting through all the sexual encounters? Throughout the game, there are lots of twists and turns, and the story gets deeper and more interesting the more I played.
Gameplay Mechanics
The game works by making choices. What I decide affects the story and what happens next. Some choices lead to good things, while others bring up old problems. This makes the game really interesting because it feels like every choice is important. All-in-all, It has all the same mechanics other VNs have.
Visuals & Audio
The renders in the game are great. They ensured to retain details in each and every scene as well as the characters. Both, the male and female characters are really attractive. I really love the animations too. But I do wish they added more, there can never be enough animations! The game could use a bit more sound effects and background music, I am not really a fan of the eerie silence that NSFW VNs force to go through.
Pros
The story is pretty decent and keeps you interested.
There are many different endings, so you can play again and again.
The renders are visually appealing with both beauty and details.
Cons
I would prefer if they added more animations.
It could use more SFX and Background Music although I understand that background music might kill the mood. But it’s worse when you’re subjected to just silence, at least for me.
Conclusion
I really enjoyed my brief playthrough of this title. It's more than just a game; it's like a deep and interesting story. If you like stories with drama, choices, and romance, you should surely give this game a try. Looking forward for the complete release!
