Space Adventures

Explore and survive the mystery of the void so-called space. Take on new missions and venture to uninhabited planets and uncover alien technology.

All and everything in this story-driven VR sci-fi puzzle game.

The Game of The Play

Whispers of the Void introduces the exploration and adventures to different planets that hold different missions.

When beginning the game, you will get a holo-call from an old buddy of yours, leaving a holo-voice message informing you a bit about your upcoming mission.

To select a destination, all you have to do is walk back to the holographic astronomical map table and drag your spaceship to the desired planet you want to visit.

You will start with only one option of planet.

The game contains a lot of potential, though during the first planet mission I could already notice a few nameable bugs.

Errors as follows:

  • Trying to open the stone door with the left hand will completely remove the hand. It will disappear and be unavailable for anything; pressing the restart button within the game will do nothing. The only way is to restart the whole game.

(Edit, after moving all the statues and beating them, the door to the broken elevator will open and once you gain the power of the trapped |god?| the left hand will appear back again.)

  • The game doesn’t save if you exit, nor is there any noticeable manual saving.

  • Once the ship landed, for some reason the controller orb was still active allowing me to turn the ship causing it to collide with the ground and completelly moving it out of place.

  • Needing to use two hands on one controller to "Hold the upper panel button and use the stick to move it forward or backward" since i dont know if this game is originally designed for Quest or VIVE players, i had to use two hands on one of my VALVE INDEX controllers to move it.

And when repairing the elevator, you need to start with a specific broken piece, or it wont give you the "powers" to move the big broken pieces.

  • Fighting is a bit laggy, since even if you multi attack or does heavy hits, it doesn't always hit and more just collide with the enemy and sometimes hit. You can hear when it hits and see when it just collides.

  • After repairing the elevator and pressing restart, you can only move when the menu tab is open and when its closed everything freezes. Needed to restart twice within game to be able and move again with the menu tab down.

  • Last bug important enough to mention: climbing/swinging. When climbing the walls to cross the deep crack with spikes at the bottom by the entrance of the ravine wall. By mistake I managed to swing myself, and far at that. But when trying to repeat it, the characters get swung into the wall from where they pushed away from, even with arms stretched out.

So, it's difficult to swing by yourself, but when it accidentally happens, it goes way better than thought.

Fixed Bugs:

  • If you get out of the chair before answering the holo-call and select the planet and travel there, the call will auto play when you open the doors to the outside.

After experiencing all of this during one long play session, I felt like this would be enough information for a game that is still under development.

Visual & Audio

Visuals

For the visuals, the game looks good. Maybe a bit too bright on the planet in my opinion, but otherwise I was pleased with all the small details (even if unable to interact with them) on the spaceship.

And the surrounding structure and buildup. The crystals, open view displaying that you’re on the side of a large ravine wall that got an opening in it.

Then let's not forget the holographic characters that are displayed throughout the game. The devs did good with the visuals, but core gameplay needs a bit of help up the ladder.

Audio

The audio of both sound effects and voice casting was quite good. There’s no background music, so you’d have to be alone with your thoughts or open Spotify.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Story

Cons

  • Climbing/Swinging Bug

  • Opening Stone Door Bug

  • Wall Gripping Areas Bug

  • No Saving

  • Way Too Bright

  • Restart Button Fixes Nothing

  • Restart Button After Elevator Freezes all If Menu Tab is Down Bug

  • Ship moving after landed on planet Bug

My final little thoughts

Whispers of the Void has an extremely big potential of being a very enjoyable, adventurous, puzzle-solving VR interaction game. But in its current state, it still needs a lot of work.

I got a key for this game to try it out a couple of months ago, and after finally getting the time to try it out, it still contains some amount of bugs.

So, unfortunately, I will have to say that Whispers of the Void is currently not recommended. If the developers want us to update this review for when the game is fully released, then we’d be glad to, and it’s just to send us an email.
